HR chatbots streamline routine tasks but introduce serious data risks when not properly governed, according to HR Daily Advisor. Three core vulnerabilities stand out: over-permissioned integrations that let employees access records beyond their authorization, prompt injection attacks that bypass chatbot safeguards, and staff pasting sensitive personnel data into unapproved public AI tools. To reduce exposure, HR and IT teams should enforce role-based access controls, apply data minimization principles, vet vendor contracts for retention and encryption commitments, and prohibit vendors from using HR data for model training. Audit logs and written usage policies, including approved tool lists and identifier-removal requirements, help organizations demonstrate accountability and limit regulatory and legal fallout.
